Cooro is a crow +Anima and the main character of the series.
Appearance[]
Cooro has blackish-brown eyes and black hair that comes down his back in a short braided rattail with a small crimson ribbon tied on. To protect his eyes from strong winds he wears a set of yellow leather aviator goggles. He adorns with two colourful decorative feathers dyed in in yellow blue and red. On his arms, he wears a pair of crimson fingerless shoulder length gloves with a matching sleeveless undershirt. On top, he has highcollar backless yellow tunic that is kept on by a brown belt strapped around his waist. He has loose denim pants that end just below his knees and a pair of yellow gum boots with crimson socks.
He carries a small hatchet that he was given by Harden.[2] He has a pouch made of fur and leather on his belt in which he carries emergency rations, acorns, a stone knife and coins.[3]
In his Anima form, Cooro grows some black crow wings on his back with which he can fly. His Anima markings are located on both of his shoulders; both are spirals resembling wings with five marks protruding to represent the feathers.
Personality[]
Cooro is a skilled liar and rather mischievous at times, along with his carefree but curious attitude he finds himself involved in other people's problems. Despite this, he is very respectful of people's autonomy and respects their decisions no matter how much he disagrees.
He is very gluttonous and will eat almost anything that isn't bitter, but his favorite food is apples. [4]
Unlike most other +Anima, Cooro is unashamed of and likes to show off his Anima. He will often to the surprise of strangers, sprout his wings and take flight, uncaring of any unwanted attention his actions may bring.
Skills[]
Flight[]
Using the wings he grows in his Anima form, Cooro is able to fly.
+Anima Detection[]
Cooro has the innate ability to tell whether a person is a +Anima at a glance, while in their human form.
History[]
Cooro's mother died late into pregnancy and, as is custom in her hometown of Lilt, her body was placed on a cairn to be eaten by crows. From one of these crows, Cooro obtained his Anima while still in the womb, making him the only known person to be born a +Anima. Cooro flew away and crashed through the roof of the church in Kilter. The nuns there raised him along with some other orphans. After a while, Cooro was taken to the Astarian National Research Facility where he met and befriended Fly Greena Aight, and promised to give his Anima to Fly when he grew up. Due to Cooro's ability to sense the presence of other +Anima, Fly sent him to travel across Astaria to gather +Anima for his research.
Plot[]
Cooro sneaks into a circus to watch a performance but is caught and told to perform for the circus to pay the cost of his ticket. There he meets Husky, a fellow +Anima, who is being coerced into working for the circus. Cooro rescues Husky and the two start travelling together. They soon after pick up Senri in Abon, and Nana in Octopus. The four children travel west across Astaria, meeting many interesting people but never staying in one place for long.
During their travels, Fly keeps tabs on Cooro's activities, hoping to hear from him since Cooro had not returned to the research facility in some time. However, he is unable to continue his monitoring as Cooro and his friends pass through Moss Mountain, leaving Astaria and entering Sailand. After they eventually return to Astaria, Fly meets up with Cooro in Yellow Valley where he advises Cooro to visit the church in Kilter. Cooro is hesitant to go, but his friends insist, wanting to know more about the past the Cooro keeps a secret.
After Nana and Husky disappear while investigating a ghost at the church, Cooro and Senri track them through a tunnel, and they all end up at the Astarian National Research Facility. Having now returned, Cooro accepts that it is time for him to follow through on his offer and give his Anima away to Fly. After the surgery, he feels lost without his Anima and finds himself wandering back to Lilt, atop a cairn. His friends find him there at the moment he sprouts new wings, which Senri identifies as not being from his original Anima. Cooro starts to aimlessly fly away, but his friends grab ahold and stop him. He finds the void he was feeling to be filled by their friendship; his new Anima leaves him and his original one returns.
